Advantages of high speed milling

From: Back to list
The advantages of high-speed milling are the high feed rates and cutting parameters. The advantages of high-speed milling compared to conventional milling are as follows:

(1) Efficient: When the main shaft speed of high-speed milling is generally -15000r / min -40000r / min, the cutting speed is about 400m / min when cutting steel up to 100000r / min, which is more than the traditional Milling is 5-10 times higher. When machining a mold cavity, it is 4-5 times more efficient than conventional machining methods (traditional milling, EDM, etc.).

(2) High precision: The precision of milling is generally 10 UM, and some precision is higher.

(3) High surface quality: Due to the small temperature rise during high-speed milling (about 3 degrees Celsius), there is no metamorphic layer and microcracks on the surface, and the thermal deformation is also small. The best surface roughness is less than 1 UM, reducing the subsequent grinding. Cutting and polishing amount.

(4) Machinable high-hard materials: 50-54HRC steel can be milled, the maximum hardness of milling can reach 40HRC.

Since high-speed milling has the above advantages, high-speed machining of molds has been widely used, and has gradually replaced grinding and electrical machining. However, high-speed machining should meet the requirements of no interference, no collision, smoothness, and smooth cutting load during the machining process. These conditions cause high-speed cutting to place special requirements on tool materials, tool structures, tool clamping, and machine tool spindles, machine structures, feed drives, and CNC systems. And the spindle is easy to wear and cost during the processing.
